Blood Lust

"VERIPARE! Get out of bed now!" Veripare Selona's mother yells from down stairs.
Veripare moans and rolls over onto his back. He looks around his room, posters of rock stars and movie stars plague his walls. His dusty TV has dishes from last night's supper on top of it.
"Did you hear me!?" She yells again.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Veripare yells, getting up and out of bed. He walks into the washroom just to the right of his bedroom door and washes then gets dressed.

Passing his Mom on the way down stairs he gives her a kiss and grabs an apple from a basket of fruit on a small kitchen table cluttered with mail, bills and books of all sorts.
"I'm working late tonight" Veripare tells his mother. "Don't set a place for me at the table tonight, Holie and I are meeting for supper."
She nods and points at the kitchen clock, showing him that he will be late if he doesn't get going now.

So he starts up his car and drives to his work at the grocery store in his town, Caledonia. He works there as a baker in the deli and fresh produce section making all sorts of breads and treats.
He pulls into the parking lot and locks the car and tosses the keys into his pocket. He glances at his watch and turns his walk into a run.
"I'm going to be late..." He whispers to himself. He walks into the store and jumps over the counter into the back room and gets his apron, hair net and gloves on. On his way out he puts his index finger
to his lips and touches a small picture of him and a girl. She looked only about fifteen years old, one year younger then Veripare was now.
"Veripare! You here yet!?" His boss yells. Swiftly he closes his locker door and spins around to start getting the dough ready for his bread.
Infront of him was an angry looking employer. Tapping his foot and his arms crossed.
"Your late...! AGAIN!" He yells. "One more time and your FIRED!" I want my bread out on the shelves before the store opens, you hear?" The boss asks Veripare, still in a high pitched tone.
"Yes sir" Veripare replies in a frail voice, scared of his boss he starts working double the pace.
It was now night. He had worked all day. Getting out all of the bread for today and tommarows bread ready and waiting in the fridge. It was now, surprisingly, eleven o'clock.
"I guess I won't get around to Holie today" Veripare mumbles. Walking out to his car, he notices the tires were ripped.
"What is this!?" He yells. His tires had been slashed. He swears underneath his breath about the troublesome day he had had.
So he starts walking home, mumbling to himself about how he is going to have to make it up to his girl friend and how he is going to keep his job.
While walking home, he notices something strange. Out in the middle of the road there were some people fighting! They were in a fierce fight, two of them. One was wearing a black cloak sort of thing
with a red vest and firebrick pants, a piece of gold and a silver chain held the cloak together. The other fighter however wore a grey cloak with nothing to keep it from floating off and a black and blue
suit. It looked shiny and waxed. Veripare wondered why they were fighting. Then he realized something. "There skin.." He whispers to himself. "Its white..!" he exclaims quietly so that only he could hear him.
"And their eyes" he whispers again. "There white! Who are these guys? And why are they fighting!?" Veripare again exclaims.
A terrible screech is heard as the black and red man stabs the grey person in the heart. He falls down. Dead. The black and red person laughes heartily at the grey's demise.
He wipes his cloak around himself and disappears into the night.

Veripare gets up and out of the bushes where he was hiding. He quietly, steathly he strides up to the body on the ground. He reaches down and turns the body onto it's back.
Veripare leaps back in a terrible fright. The man wasn't human. Veripare couldn't put his finger on it, but somehow, this man was ... different. He had white skin, as pale as the moon and his eyes were
all white. Veripare was ... curious. He looks closer and touches the body's skin. "leather?" he asks himself. All the sudden, the skin got warm, then hot, then scorching. The body bursts into flames and
burns away infront of him. Veripare's hand was burned in the "explosion", ever so faintly though. It was nothing anyone else would see or worry about. He shakes his head and shrugs.
"I need a good night sleep... And something eat!" Veripare promises himself walking away, grasping his hand.
Veripare flinges open the doors and walks inside quietly. He undresses and dresses into his night-time clothes and falls asleep.
Black. All he saw was black. He was standing alone. Afraid. Screeches and screams sent shivers down his spin. He couldn't move. A faint figure off in the distance calls out his name. A girl, dressed in
white. Veripare tries to speak but his mouth is sealed shut. He tries to strain his eyes to look closer. His vision fails him and he awakens, a cold sweat dampening his clothes.

He gets up and goes into the washroom and then tosses some water onto his face. When he reached into the water, he was burned. Burned? By water? This is strange, he thought to himself.
Veripare gets dressed and goes down stairs. It was early. Earlier then ususal. It was still dark outside and everyone was asleep. He glances up at the kitchen clock to see the time. 5AM. 5AM Veripare wonders.
How come I feel so refreshed? I've never woken up this early before and felt so ... awake. A door from upstairs opens up and his sister walks out.
"What are you doing up this early Veripare?" his sister, Cecil asks as she walks down the stairs to talk to him face-to-face. "Are you ok?" She asks putting a hand onto his forehead.
Pulse. "Are you ok?" Pulse, Pulse. "Veripare? Whats wrong?" Pulse, Pulse, Pulse. "Why are you shaking? Veripare! Stand up!" Cecil says as she kneels down overtop of Veripare who had fallen onto the
floor.
"I can... Feel your heart beat" he explains in a shaky and scared voice. "I-I'm scared. I don't know whats going on... So... Confused." Veripare faints.

Veripare awakens. He was in his room. His mother was sitting down on a chair at the side of his bed. "Your finally awake" Veripare's mother says in a soft voice. "You fainted yesterday morning."
She explains to him. Veripare sits up in his bed and looks at his hands. They were turning pale, very very pale, almost purely white. Almost, just about the same shade as the man he had saw die a couple days ago.
"I'm... Fine. I was just tired from the day before." Veripare leaps out of bed with even more energy as the day before. "I'll be fine Mom. But I have bad news. My car's tires were slashed and I had to leave it at the store's parking lot." Veripare says. His Mom nods and says, "Well if your going to work you have one hour to get ready!"
Veripare goes into the washroom. He doesn't put his hands into the water because he thought he would get burnt. He sprays some deodorant on instead, heavily and then he walks out and gets
dressed. He sits down in his room, not quite ready to go. He wondered about that dream... About the girl he had seen and about the screeches and screams he had heard. He shivers as he recalled
the screams. He got to work quite early even though he walked. He had noticed he had alot more stamina and alot more speed in his walk. He started to ready his dough and the other small tasks he
had missed yesterday, like sweeping the back room. He finished early, with his new found energy he had gotten his work done faster. By the time he got home, it was 6PM and he went into his
room to watch TV. He fell asleep while watching his shows.

Black. All he saw was black. He heard the screeches and screams before. But he no longer feared them. In some way, they were amusing. He could move and talk. He saw the lady dressed in white.
She looked pale, but not so pale as the grey man. She was sitting on a rock, crying. She looked up at me and gasped. I then somehow could see myself. He was pale, so very very pale. His eyes were white,
no other colour now showed in his eyes.He was wearing a grey cloak without a fastening. A grey and blue suit, shiny and waxy. He had a dagger inside a sheath at his side.
Veripare steps forward. He didn't want to but he did. Something control him. The lady in white cried. She cried something red from her eye. Blood. Veripare put his finger to her face and looked at it,
he could see himself in the small drop. He tasted it. It tasted salty, flavorful, and brilliant. Like nothing he had ever tasted before. He liked it. He wanted more. Veripare opened his mouth to reveal
fangs, Vampire Fangs. Now Veripare realized what he was. When he touched the grey man in the street that one night he now realized that he to had became like him.
"I'm a Vampire!" He says to the lady. "You will join my ranks!" she screams and was bitten.

Veripare wakes up from his sleep and looks over at his clock on this desk beside his bed. It was 2AM in the morning. He opens his mouth and touches his teeth. Veripare gasps.
"I've become... Like them! I'm a Vampire!" He exclaims. He gets up and out of bed and puts on some clothes. Grey and blue clothes, he though, so that I won't be attacked.
He runs out of his house and runs through town, wincing whenever his eyes fell upon a street lamp. He ran as fast as his new being would let him. He raced to his girlfriend's house.
He somehow, somehow was able to jump up onto her roof and land without a sound. Perhaps it's something to do with being a vampire Veripare wondered. He opened the window of Holie's room and
climbed in. She was asleep, sound asleep. He step closer and closer until he sat down onto her bed. "Holie!" Veripare whispers as he shakes her arm to get her to wake up. "Holie! Wake up!"
She rolls over onto her back and glances up at Veripare, unknowing about what he was. Her vision focused and she could see him clearly. She screams and leaps out of bed. Holie opens up the door
and dashes out down the stairs and towards the front door in a panic to get away. "Holie! Wait!" Veripare pleas as he follows her out into the night. "Holie!"
All the sudden, a black figure swoops down from the sky. It was wearing a black cloak and a red looking suit. It had white eyes and pale skin. It hisses, revealing long fangs.
"Its him! The Vampire that attacked the grey one three days ago!" Veripare shouts now running forward to protect Holie from whatever danger the red Vampire will do.
He drew a sword, a long and thin steel blade. It shone in the moon light like a fiery white torch. He jumps forward and kills the girl. Veripare stops and looks at him. Veripare hisses and then
screams out in anger. "Why have you done this!? Why have you killed my friend!?" He exclaims bringing his hands out infront of him ready for a fight, that was when Veripare discovered he had
claws. He leaps forward and slashes the Vampire.
"I am Draak." The vampire explains as he sheathes his sword and wipes the blood off of his face and onto the inside of his cloak. "I am a Slayer of all races." Draak explains.
"I kill for food and pleasure, as do the many others of my Vampiric Family. What family are you of Vampire? Do you follow me or The Faithful?" Draak continues.
"Get back!" A voice from behind Veripare yells. Without thought, Veripare leaps back with superhuman speed as a bolt of lightning strikes the ground before Draak. Draak hisses and vanishes into
the night. There, standing before Veripare was another Vampire. Dressed in a white and grey robe wearing a grey cape around her. Veripare steps forward to look closer at the girl.
"I am Mellina Star. And you are Veripare Star? Am I correct?" She questions stepping forward as well to meet Veripare face-to-face. She was beautiful. She had brown and blonde hair like himself
with a single blue and purple braided stripe of hair hanging behind her right ear. Her eyes were white, as were his and her face pale, so very very pale. She was indeed a Vampire.
"I am Veripare Selona, you have my first name correct" Veripare politely replies to Mellina.
"No, your wrong. You see, you are now a Vampire. A Vampire apart of my family..." Mellina begins. "When you touched my brother who was slayed by that awful Slayer, you contracted
Porphyric Hemophila, the disease that turns into Vampirism. This disease has made you apart of my Vampiric Family: The Star." Mellina explains.
Veripare sits down on the curb and looks at his girlfriend's corpse. He tries to cry, but he can't. Something wasn't allowing him to mourn her death.
"So what now?" Veripare asks Mellina looking her straight in the eyes. "What do I do? I don't know enough about this disease and now my girl friend is dead. What do I do?" Veripare asks himself and Mellina.
"We must go to The Trust" Mellina says. "The Tower of Trust is the correct name, but all Faithful call it The Trust." Mellina adds.
Veripare looks up from the body again. "Who are these Slayers and who are the Faithful?" He asks.
Mellina sighs and moves closer to him, "The Slayers are a clan of Vampires that want to kill all living things so that the world can be theirs. The Faithful are a clan of Vampires that want to stop them
and find a cure for Vampirism. We also teach how to use our Vampiric Powers against the evil forces that the Slayers wield."
"What must I do to find The Trust?" Veripare asks.
"First, go home and grab as many supplies as you can carry. I mean things like empty bottles and empty glasses, dishes and anything else that might be a good donation for The Faithful. We all look
after each other. When your ready, meet me by the train tracks, and be there before 3AM!"

Veripare ran home at top speed. He grabbed all of the things that Mellina had listed. Bottles, dishes, glasses, kleenex, his MP3 player, laptop and several DVDs were shoved into some bags.
He dashed through the night to reach the train tracks in time. There was Mellina, standing on the train tracks. Veripare slowed down and walked up to her. She turned around, holding a dagger.
She hands it to him. "Its a gift, from me to you." Mellina explains, fluttering her eyes lashes. In the short time that they have meet, she was really taking a liking to him.
"Thank you Mellina. But I can't help but wonder, where is it from?" Veripare questions as he inspects the blade.
"It was my Mother's, my birthmother. She gave it to me when I was 12, in human years before I contracted the disease. I want you to have it, I could never quite get a hang of fighting with it." She explains somemore.
"I see," Veripare replies "but I can't help but wonder how we are going to get to The Trust." Veripare adds.
Mellina smirks devilishly. "Were going to use our Vampiric powers. Hold my hand." She says, extending her left hand for Veripare to hold.
Her hand was soft, which was unusual since all other Vampires he had met had leathery skin, he felt Draak's when he slashed him.
"Think of what you desire the most" She tells Veripare. "I want you to want to go to the Trust. If you do, I can take you there with me. This is the Vampiric Power of teleportation. Only female
Vampires seem to have it, but I can still take you with me if you want it bad enough."
So Veripare wished. He prayed to himself silently. He shouted it out in his mind. I want to go to the Trust!

Flash. There they were. Standing on a moist and misty ground before several large hills stood many tall stone towers. In the distance, the moon shone as bright as Veripare had ever seen.
A group approaches them. They too were Vampires. They wore the same grey and blue suit that he had seen Mellina's brother wear.
"Who is this?" They ask. "Where is he from? Is he friendly or not Lady Mellina."
Lady? Lady Mellina? Did she have some sort of authority over the other Vampires? I just want answers and solutions. I don't want to be a Vampire!

A terrifying screech is heard in the distance. The Faithful Vampires surround Veripare and Mellina and draw swords as if there was going to be some sort of fight.
Veripare drew the dagger that Mellina had given him. The screech was heard again.
All of the sudden, a group of Vampires appeared infront of them, all of them wavered their black cloaks as they appeared.
"Slayers!" One called. Veripare positions himself infront of Mellina as to protect her from them.
A laugh is heard from afar. That laugh... Its him!
Draak walked out from the crowd of Slayers, his sword to drawn.
"You will surrender your Lady over to us, or we will take her by force!" He threatens.
"Never!" The same Faithful Vampire yells.
Draak shrugs and turns around. "Kill them" He says. "Kill them all!"
The Slayers run forward, hissing and clashing their swords with the Faithful.
Veripare runs forward to Draak to challenge him in a duel.
"What do we have here? A vengful little vampire? Well then boy, give me your best shot!" Draak teases.
Veripare strikes forward, backs up and parries Draak's blows.
"Not bad" Draak compliments. "But you will soon die!"
Draak steps forward and slashes Veripare's left arm, he misses and Veripare punches him in the stomach, stunning Draak for a few precious seconds.
Still stunned, Veripare kicks Draak in the face.
He reaches for his sword, but Veripare steps on his hand. Draak screams in agony.
"You will regret the day you have met the Slayers!" Draak yells.
Veripare puts the dagger to Draak's throat. "I don't think so."
Veripare kills Draak.

The Faithful have won! All of the Slayers had been killed or chased away. Mellina approaches Veripare.
"Are you ready?" Mellina queries.
"Ready for what?" Veripare asks.
"Are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime?"

Stories written in present tense give the impression that the writer is 7, or writing for a 7 yr old.
Just my opinion though.

You took a good plot, and ruined it with haste. Take more time to elaborate next time.

Actually, Jakerius, I find that writing in the present tense is more challenging than writing in the past tense. Believe me, I am a teacher of 8 year olds and they have a VERY hard time writing in present tense. They are much more skilled at past or future tenses.

It's an interesting story though. Be sure to lay it aside for a day or so and then revisit. I know that I make tweaks to stories that I write, usually after I've ignorned them for awhile. Then I usually see weak spots or places that need something new.

I'm reading a book that's in first person, present tense... It hurts my head to read a book in first person, I like 3rd person better

but, the story was pretty good!

@Jakerius

This is a school writting assignment... And I'm not a seven year old nor am I writting for a seven year old.

@Aniewiel

Thanks for the feedback.

@Brightstar

I can't write in first person... Its way to confusing for me, seeing as I'm a French-Canadian, English grammar is hard for me...

@Link Ironhammer

Thank you as well.

Read a few paragraphs, but constantly found simple grammatical errors that throw me off whenever I read. Nevertheless, it has potential; as a little editing and more thought process could do wonders in a revised/continued version.

Also, the tense you chose dosn't tend to flow well in your writing...perhaps it just isn't your strong point.

/criticism off

Great job, good potential!

@Link Ironhammer

Its the beginning of a Series...

@Gnoll

I was told to "Keep it simple stupid" so it was written in present tense. :P I'm a French-Canadian, grammar is hard for me..!

I have a revised copy... Here it is...

Blood Lust
